Only the finest materials are used to create these exquisite pet and animal portraits, whether in pencil, pastel or watercolour. Using a selection of good clear photographs, I aim to capture the true character and personality of your beloved dog, cat, horse or any other animal.
Working in pencil gives me the opportunity to achieve great detail and subtle shading, bringing out the best features, such as bright eyes and a shining coat. My pastels give a more artistic approach which can really bring out the colours and character of a subject.

The central picture shows the kind of photograph that I like to work from; you have to get up close and have the photo in focus! Outdoors is best as the light is more natural, not too sunny for strong shadows, a bright but overcast day is best. No flash! as this will cause red eye in your photo and the eyes are the most important feature. The best position of your pet is to have yourself at the same level. It is a good idea to have someone next to you with a favourite toy or treat, something to get your pet to look interested. The ideal angle is a slight profile.
